Gloc-9, Gary V, Noel Cabangon and Other Universal Records Artists Dominate the 2013 Awit Awards Nominees

Universal Records continues to be the home of the best, most respected local musical acts. At this year’s Awit Awards, the label’s artists headline the list of nominees – Gloc-9, Noel Cabangon, Gary Valenciano, Sam Concepcion, Sponge Cola, Kamikazee, Parokya Ni Edgar, Ogie Alcasid, Christian Bautista, and She’s Only Sixteen.

Gloc-9 leads with five nominations Album of the Year for MKNM: Mga Kuwento Ng Makata, and for Sirena ­– Song of the Year, Best Rap, Best Collaboration and Best Music Video. The song also features Ebe Dancel.


Noel Cabangon takes home for four nominations: Album of the Year for Tuloy Ang Byahe, Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist and Best Ballad for Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka, and Best Regional Recording for Usahay.


Gary Valenciano also bags four nominations: Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist, Best Musical Arrangement and Best Engineered Recording for Send In The Clown, and Best Vocal Arangement for Overjoyed.


Sam Concepcion is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist for Kontrabida, while Sponge Cola is included in the list of nominees for Best Performance by a Group for Pick Your Poison and Best Collaboration for XGF with Chito Miranda.


Kamikazee has two nominations: Best Rock/Alternative and Best Music Video for Halik. Parokya Ni Edgar is nominated for Best Rap for Bagsakan featuring Frank Magalona, and Gloc-9.


New band She’s Only Sixteen is nominated for the debut single Dying To Meet You for Best Performance by a new group, while their Roll The Dice is nominated as Best Engineered Recording.


Christian Bautista’s First Class album is nominated for Best Album Design and Ogie Alcasid’s Kape Ka Ba is one of the nominees for Best Novelty.

GMA Films reveals two movie offerings for 2013!

Kapuso viewers are also in for a treat as GMA Films ushers in two new and exciting movie offerings for the year.

Portfolio Films and GMA Films will kick-start Philippine Independence Day with the theatrical release of “Dance of the Steel Bars“.


Directed by Cesar Apolinario and Marnie Manicad, the film, set against the real backdrop of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, stars Dingdong Dantes, and Patrick Bergin. Playing equally important roles are Mon Confiado, Kathleen Hermosa, Thou Reyes, Gabe Mercado, Renee Salud and Gov. Gwen Garcia.


The story is inspired by the lives of the CPDRC Dancing Inmates and is a fictional account of how the dancing program started.


My+Lady+Boss+1

GMA Films and Regal Entertainment, Inc. reunite the blockbuster loveteam of Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera on the big screen via “My Lady Boss”.


This film is directed by Jade Castro and will be shown in cinemas on July 3.


My Lady Boss also stars Rocco Nacino, Ruru Madrid, Dion Ignacio, Sef Cadayona, Tom Rodriguez, Jace Flores, Princess Snell, Petra Mahalimuyak, Matet De Leon, Bianca Umali, Regine Tolentino, Gerard Pizarras, Pinky Amador and Jackie Lou Blanco, with the special participation of Ronaldo Valdez, Sandy Andolong and Maricel Laxa – Pangilinan.

National TV Ratings (May 27-29, 2013) – ‘Annaliza’ Debuts Strong, ‘It’s Showtime’ Getting Stronger

Kantar Media National TV Ratings (May 27 to 29, 2013): “Annaliza” premiered strongly last Monday beating rival program “Home Sweet Home.” “It’s Showtime” featuring Vice Ganda’s public apology received a very high 17.2% rating on Wednesday.

Riza Santos is crowned Miss Universe Canada 2013!

Riza Santos who is known here in the Philippines when she joined the Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition has just been crowned Miss Universe Canada 2013!

It was first announced last Saturday, May 25 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Toronto that MissUniverse Canada 2013 winner is Denise Garrido and 3rd Runner-up position is former PBB Housemate Riza Santos.


But on Sunday upon the validation of the computerized scoring results, a typo was discovered in the top 5 entries, which significantly impacted the final results of the competition.


This is the first instance of this type of error in the 11 years that Beauties of Canada (BOC) has produced the Miss Universe Canada pageant.


And the official results of Miss Universe Canada 2013 are as follows:

‘Iron Man 3′ and ‘It Takes a Man and a Woman’ Top PH Box Office for 2013 So Far

“Iron Man 3″ is the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in the Philippines for 2013 so far with a haul of P573 million. “It Takes a Man and a Woman,” on the other hand, is the highest-grossing Pinoy film for 2013 with a local gross of P375 million.
