His Money-Making Moves

Has “booking” now become an answer to desperate times calling for desperate measures? From the looks of it, what was once unheard of has now become acceptable – a lucrative option – an underground economy?

Seems like every adventurous and attractive Tom, Dick and Harry who want a fast buck and quick fixes know only one way to deal with them – booking! Gays who are the other half of this transaction are only too glad to offer the much-needed solution. Keep in mind that gays keep multiplying every minute – and so are rich gays.

The rise of the purchasing power of the gay community can be seen all over. Yes! Pink money is undeniably the new economic mover. Gay people are well-off – and powerful.

Many years ago, one of the earliest practitioners and beneficiaries of this deal is non-conventional and brusque actor BA. Having grown poor in a rough community has given this very appealing actor the enterprising character that taught him the tools of survival. He was savvy and street-smart.

BA’s successful sexy films paved the way for his big demand in movies – including indecent proposals from gays and matrons alike. Inspite of his sizable earnings in movies, he still accepted these proposals aka booking – if the price was right. At that time, BA was the talk of the town in the trade as he commanded huge fees from the very moneyed and powerful businessmen ..errr gays in the country.

More than a decade ago, BA was in semi-hiatus from showbiz. He concentrated on his businesses while he engaged in an exclusive relationship with a business tycoon BT for years which helped maintained his lifestyle and his expensive collection – imported cars. They had since parted ways.

He has gotten back to showbiz and was exclusively contracted by a network. However, projects have been coming in slow and few, making it difficult for him to support himself and his growing family.

The urgency of BA’s concern is real. He is undeniably in desperate mode these days. Very recently, BA has made a call in the trade community that he is very available and looking – not for bookers – but serious relationship with generous benefactors.

‘Man of Steel’ Reveals Evolution of Modern Super Hero!

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes the epic action-adventure “Man of Steel,” under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen”).

MOS_HCavill_04 MOS_HCavill_ZSnyder MOS-09932r

In the film, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

The film stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Kal-El, four-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams, Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon, Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner, Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”), Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”), Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, and Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

Born Kal-El of Krypton, raised Clark Kent on Earth. What world does he belong to? What world does he fight for? Those are the questions confronting Superman, and the choices he makes will determine the fate of the planet he has always called home.

“In the world of Super Heroes, Superman is the completely uncompromising figure who exists to represent the best that all of us can be,” Zack Snyder states. “He is the ideal; he’s what we strive for, that magical, golden god, the kind of icon that has extended beyond the comics world and into all of popular culture.”

Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster and first appearing in the comic book Action Comics #1, published on April 18, 1938, Superman quickly became a cultural phenomenon, winning fans around the world in live-action and animated form in nearly every known entertainment medium. In feature films, TV shows, radio, video games, social media and literature, he has battled some of the greatest villains of all time.

Though known for his ability to bring high energy action to his films, and create fantastical worlds on screen, Snyder was initially hesitant to take on the responsibility of bringing one of the first comic book Super Heroes back to the silver screen. “I was pretty into comics when I was growing up, and Superman was a favorite of mine, so I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it,” he acknowledges. “I wasn’t sure where I could take the character that he hadn’t gone before.”

Then he read the screenplay David S. Goyer had written, based on a story Goyer devised with one of the film’s producers, Christopher Nolan. “Without breaking the canon, without taking away the things that make him Superman, they were able to make him totally relatable,” Snyder says. “They took me on a journey that was interesting to me, and that was the reason to do it.”

Nolan offers, “Audiences will be very familiar with ‘Man of Steel’s’ portrayal of Superman as the ultimate superhero, but where he was an impenetrable, god-like figure in previous iterations of his story, we show him as a rather more relatable figure who deals with very human issues of love, divided loyalties and family, even as he is anything but human himself.”

To take the character down that road throughout the production process, Snyder instinctually knew it would be a departure for him as a filmmaker, despite having worked in the genre before.

Producer Deborah Snyder recalls, “One of the first things Zack said to me was, ‘This is going to be the most realistic film I’ve ever done. How ironic is that?’ But that was our goal: to make Superman relevant for today’s audiences, to make him fit into our world.”

In capturing that realism, the director chose to shoot on film and in 2D instead of native 3D, to be converted into 3D in post. Snyder continues, “Zack felt that an intimate filmmaking style, including handheld cameras, would help us connect with Clark who, when we first meet him, is kind of lost, trying to find his place but feeling very out of place, which is something we’ve all felt at some point in our lives.”

In scripting the story he and Nolan wrote, screenwriter David Goyer determined that “the film is very much about choices. It’s about a man with two fathers: Jor-El, Kal’s Kryptonian father, and Jonathan Kent, Clark’s dad on Earth. Clark/Kal has grown up with two sets of histories, though only one was known to him until now. And now he needs to reconcile those teachings if he is to become the man that, arguably, both fathers would want him to be, in their own ways.”

In today’s über-technological world, very little information is withheld from public notice and what is, is often uncovered and exposed, whether at the hands of the media, by self-appointed wiki watchdogs, or via viral video. Thus, it’s difficult to imagine that an alien from another planet could live among us, undetected, for any length of time. And, of course, once discovered, that individual would likely never find peace again.

“We knew that to tell Superman’s story in a modern context meant addressing the trappings of our modern times,” Snyder remarks. “And the character inherently comes with a lot of expectations as well, having been around and idolized for 75 years. So, it was important that we vetted the ramifications of every decision we made in updating him and his environment, from Smallville to the S-shield.”

Cavill relates, “Everything grows and evolves at some stage, and I think this contemporized version is another stage of that evolution. If you read the DC comic books, like the New 52 from a couple years back, they’ve been doing it as well—in a different way than Zack and Chris and David have, perhaps—but the new Superman’s suit is entirely different, and his attitude has changed a bit, while his core characteristics are still there. It’s growth for a modern reader, and our film does that for a modern audience.”

Even as the filmmakers explored the genesis of the legendary character, Snyder offers, “We knew the action had to be bigger than big, with heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat thrills. We never lost sight of the fact that we were making a Superman movie.”

“Man of Steel” opens across the Philippines on June 12 in IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular theaters and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Action and Comedy Sizzle in ‘The Heat’!

Director Paul Feig reinvigorates the buddy cop genre by pairing Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock and breakout star Melissa McCarthy as law enforcers with wildly different styles in “The Heat.

THE_HEAT

Set in Boston, the movie follows Sarah Ashburn (Bullock), a rigid FBI agent forced to team up with Shannon Mullins (McCarthy), a brash undercover Boston street cop to track a ruthless drug lord.   Ashburn is a straight-laced, patient, methodical investigator known for her excellence, while Mullins is very short fused and none has ever had a partner or a long time friend.  This wildly dysfunctional duo must try to catch this high-powered criminal without killing one another in the process.

Director Feig enthused on Bullock’s and McCarthy’s pairing, “I’m excited about doing a female buddy cop comedy because I can only think of a couple that have come along in the last 20 years and I don’t think they were particularly great. To me, though, I’m not looking at it as two women – it’s just two of the funniest people I know. Melissa, who I’ve worked with and is hilarious, and then Sandy who I’ve always been a fan of who is also hilarious. What I like is they have two different senses of humor and two different styles of comedy and the two complement each other.”

In a genre mostly dominated by men, Feig shares that the pairing is an ideal mix.“Sometimes you come up with these combos in your head and then you put them together and they don’t work at all. But we had a little rehearsal down in Atlanta when Melissa was doing another movie, and the minute they started reading together, I thought, “Okay, this is funny.”Now they’re actuallythe best of friends and onscreen the chemistry between them is great because of this, and they both bring aspects of themselves to each of their characters – they balance each other out great. Sandy’s so funny at playing the uptight nerdy-but-officious person and then Melissa’s character is just all street smarts and brawn and force. I set them loose and then just get to sit behind the monitor and laugh – I’m amazed at what they’re discovering and coming up with,” Feig continues.

Directing the raucous comedy that is “The Heat” has its unwritten rules too according to Feig. “My criteria for comedy is it has to have an emotional core, first and foremost. It also has to have believable characters, even if they’re doing big crazy things or they’re big personalities. It’s not necessarily about jokes – it’s the behavioral aspect of it, and the way they’re reacting off each other. Jokes sometimes land like lead because they just sound very written, but a funny reaction to something makes it funnier. With the Internet and YouTube we’re seeing so much real live comedy just in these videos of people with their friends – that is funnier to us than a very overwritten story. So we have our great script, and although we don’t deviate from it too much, we try to do it in a way where the actorsmake it their own and they’re talking like people do to each other in real life,” shares Feig.

“The Heat” opens June 27 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Keep Connecting the Dots

Actress model AM and actor singer AS had only the best words for each during their brief affair together. When they separated, no details were known regarding the cause of the break-up. There were alleged talks that the cause of the split was so sensitive – the underlying reason why everything was kept from the public.

Now it appears that the bottom has been finally brought out of the surface. It was alleged that while in the relationship, AM contracted STD – obviously courtesy of boyfriend AS. Alarmed, AM confronted, harsh words were exchanged, ergo the affair ended.

Fearing for a possible scandal, AM’s parents sent her abroad for treatment asap. Meanwhile, AS told his manager HM about the cause of his break-up with AM. HM was shocked and he, too, immediately brought his ward abroad to avoid malicious publicity. HM was so scared even he got himself treated.

When the dust has settled, HM was so mad like a headless chicken trying to figure out where AS could have gotten the disease. He tried hard recalling events, recounting those girls who have had flings with AS – who came ahead of whom, who was with whom at that time they were with AS, etc.

Finally, HM zeroed in on a possible suspect: a promiscuous actress PA, who was persistently running after AS. It would be recalled that it was this PA who followed AS to a provincial event but her plan was thwarted right then by the alert HM. Apart from fantasizing about AS, the very unstoppable PA also plays around with other men – among them an equally sexually active hunky actor HA who is everybody’s IT guy.

With all the characters involved in this maze, how will HM be able to pinpoint the culprit?! Indeed! What an insane puzzle to piece together!

Meanwhile, relentless AM is quietly seeing handsome television actor TA, whose loneliness AM is trying to heal while TA’s real girlfriend is so far away. Do we hear another STD story soon?

For AM: You don’t jump into the pool without getting wet, do you?

Atom Araullo is "The Bomb!"

Image courtesy of Fashion PULIS reader

Source: www.philstar.com

Isang ‘mahiwagang’ hapon sa buhay ni Atom Araullo, ang‘spice boy’ ng ABS-CBN News

Is Atom so nicknamed because he graduated with a B.S. Applied Physics degree (at UP, 2000-2005)?

Not really, although as per Webster’s definition of an atom (…considered as a source of vast potential energy), he might as well be described as “atomic” (like the bomb).

The sobriquet is actually a combination of his grandfathers’ names, Alfonso Araullo and Tomas Pagaduan.

Alfonso Tomas Araullo was born on Oct. 19, 1982 (Libra), a well-packaged TV host (Hiwaga on ABS-CBN) and field reporter (for Umagang Kay Ganda on same channel) who stands 5’10”, weighs 155 lbs. and wears medium-size shirt, medium-size briefs and size-9 shoes. He’s hands-down the best-looking guy, the Spice Boy of the Kapamilya News Department.

As a kid, Atom was a science freak who watched shows on the Discovery Channel, that’s why he studied as a scholar at the Philippine Science High School (1996-2000) which is famous for being the alma mater of exceptionally-talented students. Before PSci (pronounced “Pisay”), Atom was at Ateneo where he was a member of the Children’s Theater which cast him at age 10 in the title role in Oliver.

“I pursued theater only until my first year in college,” said Atom who did a stint as a co-host of tween show5 & Up (produced by Probe Team for GMA) together with the likes of Chynna Ortaleza, Maxene Magalona and Cruz brothers Rayver and Rodjun. Later, after graduation, Atom also co-hosted the Studio 23 showBreakfast with Bianca Gonzalez, Ryan Agoncillo, Mariton Pacheco and Bam Aquino (newly-elected senator).

True to the title of his weekly ABS-CBN show, Atom (who has won awards too many to enumerate here) is partly shrouded in “mystery” (mahiwaga) so one afternoon Conversations tried to uncover him and, in a sense, “detonating” the Atom Bomb. He showed up at the pool bar of the Imperial Palace Suites (IPS) looking more like a fashion plate than a field reporter.

Are you aware that you are the best-looking guy in the ABS-CBN News Department, bar none (any objections?)?

(Blushes) “According to who…my mother?”(Laughs) “I really don’t think so. I’m happy…how should I say it?…to be recognized for my looks but in reporting kasi that’s not the most important thing; it’s only secondary, uhm, not even secondary, siguro pangatlong bagay na lang.”

Your field is very competitive, isn’t it?

“Oh yes, it is. Very competitive.”

And looking good is a plus factor, of course!

“You think so?”

Doesn’t being good-looking distract people from the stories you are reporting?

“Hopefully not.”

Are you vain like most good-looking guys?

“Uhm, I think all of us are vain to a certain degree. It would be hypocritical of me to say that I don’t care the least bit about my looks. But wala kaming masyadong luxury sa News because when you are in the field, mauusukan ka, papawisan ka, madudumihan ka, you have to go to places na hindi maayos ang sitwasyon so hindi puedeng ayos palagi ang buhok mo, hindi puedeng lagi kang mabango, hindi puedeng magbihis ng maayos palagi…you should always be on the go.”

Some people find you somewhat suplado (snob). What is Atom Araullo really like?

“Suplado? Hindi naman. I’m just shy by nature, not the palabati type. When I am at a party, nahihiya akomaki-mix sa guests. I guess it’s part of my personality.”

But you are not anti-social, are you?

“I don’t think so, hindi naman. I think I’m more of an introvert than an extrovert.”

Aren’t you a partygoer?

“No, I’m not. I don’t even hang out in bars. I’m not into that kind of lifestyle. But sometimes, when friends invite me to an occasion, like a birthday, I do go…once in a blue moon! I’d rather stay at home. Or have a few drinks at some friend’s house. Nag-i-enjoy, kuwentuhan!”

Who are the TV guys that you look up to as role models?

“There’s Tony Velasquez. He’s a great interviewer, he has a great voice and a good command of the language whether it’s English or Filipino. Si Ces Drilon who I admire for her passion for the craft, and Ted Failon for his attempts to popularize issues that aren’t really close to the heart of people, pero importanteng national issues pa rin.”

Oops! You’re very partisan. They are all your fellow Kapamilya!

“Siempre!” (And quickly correcting himself) “But I also admire journalists from other networks but I don’t have a chance to observe them closely. There’s (Kapuso) Howie Severino who is a great documentarist.Sa totoo lang, halos lahat ng seniors got to where they are now because they have amply proven themselves, marami na silang napatunayan.”

I understand that you were politically active in UP, as a councilor.

“Well, UP has always been known as ‘a hotbed of activism.’ I also joined protest marches. I’m proud of that. That’s what you do when you are young. I learned a lot at UP na ina-apply ko pa rin sa buhay.”

Like what?

“For one, I’m acutely aware of the prevailing injustice in society, the great divide between the rich and the poor, the elitism in government and many other things that need to be changed. I learned about those issues as a student leader. That’s the advantage of being a student leader; you reach out to people not only in urban areas but also, especially, in rural areas.”

Which side of the “great divide” do you belong?

“I come from a middle-class family. My mom, Carol Araullo, is an activist. She’s a member of Bayan. But she’s not as active as she used to be, especially when she was a student, because she’s taking care of her health. I look at my mom’s activism as an inspiration. I have only one sibling, an older sister who is married and working at the stock exchange. We grew up in comfort naman, although we didn’t have a lot of luxuries, unlike other families who travel abroad, who have their own cars for their children. I had to look for scholarships so I could have a good education. I took public transport to and from school.”

Describe your typical working day.

“Monday through Friday, I wake up at 3 a.m. and head for ABS-CBN for the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG), from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., where I do mostly field reporting. If I have free time, I do other things like take a quick run, swim a bit or play football. I have to be in bed by 10 p.m. On weekends, shoot for my weekly show Hiwaga (about mysterious true stories).”

You don’t have time for yourself, do you?

“I do, every now and then. If I have free time, I sleep. ‘Yon lang ang bisyo ko. Tulog nang tulog.”

It’s good that you’re fit for such a punishing schedule.

“I take care of my health. Keeping fit is natural with me because I’ve been an athlete for a long, long time.”

Don’t you have time for your love life (if any)?

“No love life. Now? Wala akong girlfriend.”

How many girlfriends have you had so far?

“Just one. We went steady for four years, and then we broke up.”

What’s your type ba?

“Somebody who’s comfortable and confident with herself. Independent.”

Pretty and sexy?

“Oo naman, siempre! Those are the things that catch your attention. There are a lot of pretty and sexy girls but not all of them stand out. Importante ‘yung nag-iisip, critical thinker ganoon.”

Do you live alone?

“No. I’m staying with my parents. Medyo spoiled ako sa bahay. Hehehehe!”

With your hectic schedule, do you manage to take three square meals a day?

“Actually, nakaka-apat nga ako, kasi ang haba ng araw ko, eh.”

You had a good start in theater. What would make you go back to acting?

“At this point, I cannot because we are forbidden to. News people are not allowed to cross over to entertainment because the underlying wisdom is that we might lose our credibility. I think in most countries, journalists don’t usually cross over to entertainment. Acting is something that I enjoyed when I was a kid and I don’t really mind going back to it. Medyo sayang din because I know a lot of theater people…actors and directors…and they sometimes want to include me in their production but unfortunately, too, I have no more time to spare from my work in television.”

Okay, distill your life into three words.

“Adventurous. Curious. Insatiable.”

Controversial actress CA has seen the highs and lows of her status in showbiz. Yet, despite the most vicious of controversies and scandals thrown her way – her colorful and controversial love life, notwithstanding – CA has remained to be an icon of Philippine show business.

CA’s intriguing personality helped her in a way that people still get drawn to her. She may have been in and out – in long or short hiatus – yet her mark in the industry continues to be respected and acknowledged. Apart from her unquestionable talent, one of her aces is perhaps her beauty.

To her credit, in spite of her strong personality, CA’s enduring beauty never ceases to attract men. It is a given that despite her age, she had never succumbed to the tempting call of major beauty enhancements. To this day, she can proudly say that hers is still a ‘natural’ beauty – hardly seen in most celebrities of late. This could have been one of the reasons why the likes of deep actor DA is smitten by her.

Earlier on, it was reported that DA pursued her relentlessly. CA became the envy of many – who can refuse someone like DA? Yet CA was non-committal. Despite DA’s many visits to her, meeting secretly at a common friend’s house – still CA could not be moved.

People privy to her surmised it was pretty actor PA who occupied that solid space in CA’s heart. However, there has been a different turn lately. Reportedly, DA’s efforts have not gone to waste – CA is now softening up on DA – bit by bit. There are rumors and sightings of the two together getting more frequent by the day.

It is not hard to understand why DA has fallen for CA, and vice versa. Both have many things in common: maturity, professionalism, thespians. Surely the age factor is no match. Get the drift?

“We reach across the gap and against all odds, against all logic, we touch.”

The Fast and the Underdog (Under Snail) in ‘Turbo’

Audiences love to root for courageous dreamers who pursue their goals when the odds are stacked firmly against them. It’s a tradition that has stood the test of time and one that has a powerful appeal for filmmaker David Soren, who tells the story of an unusual underdog-–or under snail-–in the animated 3D film, “Turbo.”

Tubro

Voiced by Ryan Reynolds, Turbo dreams of being fast, fast enough to compete against champions in one of the world’s toughest car races. Defying logic, physics, nature and critics (including his own brother) the small snail sets out on a thrilling adventure.

Director David Soren describes Turbo in the new movie from DreamWorks Animation, as the ultimate underdog’, for obvious reasons. “Turbo is a snail and snails are constantly faced with challenges. They are smushed, salted and stepped on; they’re eaten in some parts of the world,” says Soren who set his story in Southern California where he lives with his family. The filmmaker became fascinated with the snails he observed in his own front yard. “Mother Nature has dealt them a bad hand,” he says. “When it seems impossible for a character to have any chance of success, that’s exactly what makes a great underdog story. And that’s what it is like for Turbo.”

Turbo dreams of escaping the mundane confines of his sluggish community. Frustrated with life in the slow lane, he has a fantasy of racing glory and an adrenaline-fueled life that’s a far cry from the yard where he lives with his cautious brother Chet (Paul Giamatti). Frustrated by his own physical limitations, Turbo wants to move at high speed and is inspired by his hero, a French Canadian racing driver.

Like “Turbo,” all the best underdog stories are inspirational and exciting. They invariably revolve around decent people (or animals) who don’t come from privilege (it’s hard to find arich underdog) and are driven to succeed in the face of what appear to be insurmountable obstacles, within themselves and in the world around them. Underdog tales remind us that we have the power to change our own destiny. And that’s an intoxicating theme.

It’s a theme that is close to director David Soren’s heart. “Underdog stories for me are some of my favorites out there. Inspirations for me on “Turbo” were “Rocky” and “The Karate Kid.” They have become part of my DNA. In the time-honored tradition of the underdog, Turbo’s ultimate goal is ambitious: to compete in the Indianapolis 500 (one of the world’s most famous car races). Like all underdogs, Turbo is single-minded.

Tubro 2

“He lives in the front yard of a house in the San Fernando Valley and sneaks into the garage every night to watch racing on an old dusty TV,” says David Soren. “Early in the movie Turbo has a freak accident and gains the power of incredible speed, he can move at 200miles per hour. People love to root for the little guy like Turbo. When I see a good underdog movie I get fired up. It makes me want to crack five eggs into a glass and swallow them whole, then go and work out. That kind of movie makes me want to work harder and push myself to do better and go farther. That is ideally what I hope this movie does for people.”

“I think everybody feels like an underdog to some degree. It’s why DAVID AND GOLIATH is such a relatable story and such a great parable. Overcoming enormous obstacles in order to achieve a goal is what makes an achievement mean something. It’s the key ingredient,” says the actor Ryan Reynolds, who voices TURBO. Currently at the top of his game as an actor, Reynolds says he can identify with the hero of the film.

“Turbo is a guy who sees himself on the wrong side of destiny. Unfortunately he’s a garden snail. And garden snails usually fail to register even the tiniest blip on the spectrum of greatness. He is completely disillusioned with his lot in life and with the perception of his life as ‘ordinary’. He sees himself as a guy who is on the very cusp of true greatness. My favorite underdog story? I loved ROCKY,” says Reynolds. “It is one of the greatest ever told.”

“Turbo” 3D features an all-star voice cast including Paul Giamatti, Snoop Dogg, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz and Samuel L. Jackson – opens July 19 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Hayden Panettiere on how tough it is growing-up as a child star in Hollywood!

Hayden Panettiere has just revealed how she as a child star avoided a lot of vices growing up in Hollywood!

hayden panettiere

This is what Hayden said with BBC Breakfast :

“I’m no different to anyone else and those same doors were opened to me and they were very easy to walk through—drugs, alcohol, being in inappropriate places where you shouldn’t be at a certain age—it’s a very tough position to be in, but I had great people to pull me back from it.”

On her thought of other child stars, specifically Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan:

“Being a young female growing up in the industry is tough. I grew up in the generation of the wild child—I was guilty by association. So everyone sits there and waits for you to fall off your horse.”

Panettiere adds:

“But as long as you have people who are willing to tell you the truth and are not afraid to tell you the truth and give you a reality check—it makes a world of difference.”

Hayden is a good example of child star who still works as an adult and is living a clean life free of vices.

More Serious Acting, Please

What becomes of actors who give less than what is expected of them and seem not to hone their skills further? Well, as far as I have observed they either sell-out or exit the klieg lights in a most ungraceful manner.

Hopefully, charming actor CA will not meet this unfortunate end. As one of the freshest faces– he’s only a couple of years shy of celebrating his 1st decade in the business, it would be a shame to watch him leave so soon, especially after the slew of inopportune incidents while taping for his new soap-opera.

CA was never really acclaimed as an actor, but with his dashing looks and mass-appeal, he seems to get by. But apparently, banking on one’s visual appeal won’t be enough to survive the ever-competitive world of primetime soaps. Clearly, it requires intense skill to keep up with the demands of the staff, the crew and creative heads.

For quite sometime now, CA has been experiencing constant verbal tirades from the director on the set for his consistent lousy performances. That’s a constant struggle that CA has been enduring – apart from snide remarks from irate star IS, who is playing opposite him.

IS complained a lot about CA’s acting all the time. What’s strange is that IS has recently been interviewed about working with CA, to whom she sang high praises for. Such hypocrisy!

People will do anything for good publicity, it appears.

Nobody wants to see a falling star. If CA wants to stay in this industry, he must step it up and deliver, against all odds.

I can be in 20 movies. But I’ll never be an actor. ~  Jon Stewart

Poll: Team Charice vs Team Mommy Raquel

“Why does she have to apologize to us when she knows that we already knew that she’s a lesbian a long time ago?”

Speaking in tagalog, that was the statement made by Charice Pempengco’s mother, Raquel at a press conference shown on tv earlier today. The statement was in answer to her daughter, Charice’s tv interview a week ago.

Raquel further added that she and her son, Carl understand Charice’s situation, and she never took it against her daughter — as she herself was once a lesbian before she got married and gave birth to Charice. The only difference is that she made a choice to start a family of her own over satisfying and giving in to her sexual preference.

Raquel’s brave statement above on her lesbianism shocked those who were present in the presscon and the audience watching on tv.

From the interview, it was obvious that Raquel was hurting by the turn of events that had hounded them as a family for so long since speculations came out about her daughter Charice’s being a lesbian.

She said that she can take her daughter for what she is, but one thing that she can never accept is Charice’s getting into a relationship with an Allysa Quijano – her daughter’s alleged live-in partner.

Estrogen-Filled Comedy ‘The Heat’ is On!

Budding comedy scribe Katie Dippold loved cop movies growing up. Now a grown up, her love for cop movies continues and had successfully penned the latest Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy starrer “The Heat” directed by Paul Feig.

TheHeat

The estrogen-filled comedy features Sandra Bullock as the uptight FBI agent Sarah Ashburn and Melissa McCarthy as the unorthodox Boston police officer paired together to hunt down a ruthless drug lord.

“The Heat” is the first produced screenplay by Katie Dippold, who has written for television shows like Parks and Recreation and MadTV. The film was born from Dippold’s love of buddy-cop movies. She has many favorites, but singles out the 1986 comedy-action film Running Scared, starring Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines as wisecracking Chicago street cops. “I’ve always enjoyed those kinds of movies,” says Dippold, who recently signed a deal to write another comedy for director Paul Feig. “The characters and actors always seemed like they were having so much fun.”

Dippold’s love of buddy-cop films provided the foundation for a script that ultimately transcended the genre with outrageous humor and heart. Feig sparked to the script, calling it “one of the funniest I’ve ever read.”

“It turns the genre on its head by adding some breasts,” jokes Bullock. “It’s gonna surprise people what women with breasts can do.”

When the filmmaker told Dippold that “The Heat” was going to be his next film, the neophyte screenwriter was flummoxed. “I thought I was being pranked,” Dippold admits. “I got an email saying that Paul wanted to have lunch with me. After reading the email, I sat there frozen for several minutes. Then, I thought it was a joke.” “Well, that’s Katie,” says producer Jenno Topping. “She’s incredibly humble and real.”

With Dippold’s first draft in hand, Feig moved at warp speed to cast the film, a task facilitated by his visualizing his “dream team” in the script. “I’ve always been a fan of Sandra Bullock, and as I was reading I was just like, okay, Ashburn is Sandra. Ashburn felt like her. Sandra is so funny in movies and in real life. She’s confident and cool, but she’s also analytical about things to a point where it’s comical, and which I love. And that’s how I felt about the Ashburn character.”

“Sandra brings a sweet quality to what could have been an unlikable character,” adds Katie Dippold. “She really nails that ‘A+-student’ vibe, and she’s hilarious.” And McCarthy notes that, “Sandra is great, funny and weird. We are very much in sync.”

It didn’t take much convincing to bring Bullock aboard. She was a big fan of “Bridesmaids,” and eager to work with its director, Feig. “Watching Bridesmaids was one of those rare moments when I thought to myself that this is a person [Feig] I want to work with because you know he is going to make you better – and that he could turn “The Heat” into something memorable.”

The strength of the Bullock-McCarthy dynamic, evident even then, inspired additional script fine-tuning. “By the end of that first read, it was obvious that Sandy and Melissa really inhabited these characters, and that it was up to Katie Dippold and me to take all that magic and get it into the script – and really let the women fly,” says Feig.

TheHeat2

For Dippold, the process was liberating. “Sandy and Melissa took what was on the page and made it funnier than I thought it could ever be,” she says. A particular favorite came during a Mullins’ tirade against her captain (played by Tom Wilson) – accusing him of lacking a set of testes – when he refuses her demand to boot Ashburn from the case. “Melissa really ran with the one scripted line, ‘Have you seen the captain’s balls?’ and turned it into something spectacular.”

Rated R-13, “The Heat” opens June 27 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Ecstatic with the Sizable Catch

A hunky and handsome male model HM recently made a declaration. His expose allegedly did not impact as he expected. Many didn’t care, as he comes off as too hungry for fame.

From the beginning, HM magnified himself via all forms of social media – for better mileage, as everyone knows. For fast recall, he has also cashed in on his good looks which is a spitting image of an in-demand lead actor LA.

HM is undeniably handsome and not too few gays and girls fantasized about him. Until his revelation that nailed what has long been speculated about him.

Months after that, HM is now rumored to be “buddies” with a young, talented actor TA who is similarly gendered, but believed to be closeted. HM feels so privileged and tickled pink to have someone like TA who is a big star. Surely, in his mind, this will work well for him which is exactly as he planned.

This early, HM goes out bragging to some friends about his “friendship” with TA. Along with that, he does a “kiss and tell,” too, which is becoming habitually fashionable these days. HM goes telling friends or anyone willing to listen just how euphoric he is everytime he is with TA, complete with all those sordid bedroom details.

Poor TA, he is probably caught unawares of HM’s shenanigans. Truly, HM’s pathetic mind mind bubbles with plans and schemes.
